Elizabeth Danta Blount D.V.M.

Medical Director and CEO

Dr. Blount is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Evaluation, with a specialty in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Horticulture. Additionally, Dr. Blount holds a Master of Business Administration from the Eli Broad College of Business, located at Michigan State University (MSU).

With a life-long passion for learning about and caring for animals, her experience base is broad and far reaching. She served on the first Human-animal Bond Committee at MSU, in 1990 and is currently enrolled in the new AVMA Human-Animal Bond Certification program.

Dr. Blount also has a tremendous interest in animal behavior and training, starting early in her veterinary career when she served as the Veterinarian in Charge at the Aquarium of Niagra Falls in New York State. She completed marine mammal externships at Niagra Falls and Mystic Marine Life Aquarium. She served for several years as the staff veterinarian for Wildside, a large wildlife rehabilitation center near Michigan State where she cared for a variety of animals and wildlife including beavers, opossums, bald eagles, and of course, dogs and cats.

Dr. Blount has extra training and experience in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, diagnostic ultrasound, emergency and critical care, medicine, and veterinary dentistry.

She is very involved in her community. She was featured in an article in the June/July 2012 issue of Tallahassee Woman Magazine. She is an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she has sung in the choir for the past 18 years.

She has three Golden Retrievers that are AKC Community Canines and one of which is also a certified therapy dog. She is also the proud mother of two grown (human) children.

At Home Veterinary Care, LLC was founded in 2009.
